Three arrested as Westerville experiences fight and panic after ‘International Night
A cultural celebration in Westerville As people departed Westerville North High School on Friday night, there was a brawl, a panic, and a vehicle wreck. Three people who were not students were arrested.
According to Principal Kurt Yancey’s email to parents, the school’s International Club organized an International Night “to celebrate and showcase the many cultures of our community.” Dance, poetry, talks, and other kinds of artistic expression were featured during the event, which was hosted in the school’s auditorium.
“Unfortunately, two altercations involving several individuals occurred outside of the school after the event concluded.” District authorities and law enforcement officers arrived on the site to assist our school administrators in dealing with the situation. Please be aware that no one from Westerville North or Westerville City Schools was involved in these instances,” Yancey said. There were no weapons used.
Columbus and Westerville police were dispatched to the hit-and-run crash at Cleveland Avenue and Schrock Road around 9:20 p.m., according to Westerville police scanners. According to reports, a white Toyota Camry was heading north on Cleveland. There were no weapons used.
School authorities hailed the fast response of the police. According to Yancey, three people were charged. Their identities and charges were not made public.
