One of two elderly brothers who went missing while on a fishing trip was found dead in the water, while the other remains missing.
Tragically, an 86-year-old gentleman who had been reported missing on Friday was discovered deceased on Monday. His body was found beneath a bridge located near an aqueduct in Lancaster.
According to officials from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the search for the 78-year-old brother of the man is still ongoing. Sadly, he is still missing, and authorities have pledged to continue searching for him in the water on Tuesday.
The Khacheryan family reported on Friday that Minas Khacheryan and his younger brother, Grigor Khacheryan, were missing.
According to the Sheriff officials’ report, the two individuals were last sighted on Friday morning in the 1000 block of East Chevy Chase Drive in Glendale. As of Monday, authorities have received information that the two were seen fishing in the vicinity of the California aqueduct.
The family expressed their concern for the two individuals mentioned. Grigor Khacheryan, who had recently undergone open heart surgery, was particularly worrisome for them.
On Monday, the body of Minas Khacheryan was discovered under a bridge located on 195th Street West and West Avenue G in Lancaster.
According to officials, no foul play is suspected in the recent death, although the exact cause is still under investigation.
According to a statement released by the sheriff’s office, the search for Grigor Khacheryan will persist with the assistance of approximately twenty-four divers who will employ sonar technology to explore the aqueduct’s waters.
