Eastbound I-80 is closed on Christmas Day due to a traffic jam
Eastbound I-80 was closed on Christmas Day due to an incident involving many semi-trucks.
The crash occurred early Monday morning, during a blizzard warning. A camera from the Nebraska Department of Transportation captured jackknifed semis fully obstructing traffic…with scores of automobiles stalled behind them.
Eastbound traffic on the freeway was being redirected north into York and then east into Waco.
There has been no word about any injuries as of yet.
The National Weather Service has issued a travel advisory for one of the busiest travel days of the year. The county of York is under a blizzard warning until 6 p.m. Tuesday. Forecasters predicted four to seven inches of snow, with wind gusts of up to 35 miles per hour generating whiteout conditions.
