EMT tragically loses life while aiding accident victims upon returning from Alabama hospital
A tragic incident occurred when a vehicle struck and fatally injured an EMT in Mississippi. The EMT was providing assistance to a victim of a car accident after transporting another patient to a hospital in Alabama.
Mary “Katie” Pipkins passed away on Saturday, as confirmed by Rusty Hembree, the Operations Manager of ASAP EMS.
“We at ASAP EMS are deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved friend and colleague,” expresses the heartfelt statement.
According to Hembree, an ASAP crew had just finished transporting a patient to Mobile, Ala., and was on their way back to their coverage area when they came across an auto accident. Without hesitation, they stopped to provide assistance. Tragically, while aiding one of the victims, Pipkins was hit by a passing vehicle.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of such a wonderful person,” expresses the company’s heartfelt statement. “Miss Pipkins was an exemplar of heroism in every sense. Her dedication and compassion knew no limits. She served as an inspiration to her colleagues and all who had the privilege of knowing her.”
