A man has been convicted of second-degree murder
District Attorney Cynthia Zimmer stated Tuesday that a Kern County jury convicted a man on Monday of second-degree murder with the personal use of a deadly weapon.
On May 15, 2019, outside the Johnny Quick Stop grocery at Fourth Street and Union Avenue in Bakersfield, James Jordan allegedly stabbed to death Virdy Jones with a pocket knife.
According to a news release from the District Attorney’s Office, investigators discovered Jordan and Jones were in a love relationship with the same woman, and Jordan was also earning from the woman’s job as a prostitute.
Jordon faces up to 36 years to life in prison at his sentencing in Kern County Superior Court on January 3.
