Woman was shot and killed in her SE DC home
A man has been charged with murder after a woman was discovered shot to death early Sunday morning in her Southeast, D.C. home.
At 3:49 a.m., Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to the 4000 block of Southeast 13th Street for a shooting. At the scene, officers discovered a woman suffering from gunshot wounds inside her residence. She passed away at the scene.
Since then, investigators have identified the victim of this shooting as Patricia Johnson, 52, of Southeast, D.C. Her alleged assailant has been identified as 46-year-old Desmond Thurston of Southeast, Washington, D.C. For his suspected involvement, police arrested and charged him with first-degree murder while armed.
The detectives’ investigation revealed that the shooting was domestic in nature.
Currently, the relationship between the victim and the shooter is unknown. The police have not disclosed what led up to the shooting or what occurred prior.
