LAPD reports 3 fatalities in North Hollywood shooting from a vehicle; suspects remain at large
According to the LAPD, a shooting in North Hollywood on Monday night left three people dead and one person injured.
According to a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department, the shooting occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Moorpark Street and Lankershim Boulevard. The location of the incident was just across the street from St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, as well as a few nearby restaurants.
According to police reports, a black sedan was fired upon by a group of three or four men in a silver sedan. After the attack, the suspects swiftly fled from the scene.
Authorities confirmed that one individual lost their life at the scene of the shooting. Meanwhile, two other victims who had sustained gunshot wounds drove themselves to Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in a black Mercedes-Benz sedan. Sadly, they passed away shortly after arriving at the hospital.
Yellow police tape cordoned off the emergency room entrance of the medical center where the Mercedes had been parked. The car remained stationary in its spot.
No one who had passed away in the incident has been identified yet. The sole survivor is still receiving medical attention and their current condition remains unknown.
Currently, there are no suspects in custody and their descriptions have not been made available.
Authorities are still investigating the motive behind the shooting incident.
The LAPD has reported shootings in North Hollywood that have fluctuated over the years. Nevertheless, in recent years, there have been heightened levels similar to those seen as far back as 2010.
Over the past year, North Hollywood has experienced a shooting rate per 100,000 residents that is approximately 50% lower than the average rate for the entire city.
According to local inhabitants, there has been a concerning rise in violent crimes in the vicinity.
Jolanta Needell expressed her shock at the recent increase in violence, stating that the previous level of violence was considered normal. However, the current situation seems to be targeted and executed in a specific style, making it very concerning for her to walk around the area on a daily basis.
