In June 2020, Dawnita Wilkerson, a 44-year-old mother of six from Indiana, was last seen at a motel
In June 2020, the world was in the midst of a global pandemic. Many countries had implemented lockdowns and quarantine measures. However, during this challenging time, a family from Indiana was facing an additional crisis. They were desperately searching for 44-year-old Dawnita Wilkerson, a mother of six who had gone missing. Initially, it was believed that she was last seen by her 15-year-old the day before her disappearance on June 22. However, further investigation revealed that this was not the case.
On June 21, 2020, surveillance footage revealed that Dawnita Wilkerson was recorded at an Evansville, Indiana motel on the city’s East Side. At 8:16 a.m., cameras captured Dawnita entering a silver Chevrolet Suburban with a sunroof and tinted windows. The vehicle was observed driving through Southwest Indiana and into Southern Illinois. Authorities suspect that she may have been heading towards the Carbondale or Marion areas in Illinois.
Tracking Down The Vehicle
Reports indicate that the vehicle involved in the incident is registered to Cedrick Vernall Neal. However, Neal has not been cooperating with the investigation, causing frustration among Dawnita’s loved ones. Authorities have chosen to withhold certain information they have obtained, which has further added to the frustration. Detective Jeff Hands of the Evansville Police assured reporters that there is a specific approach in place, as they need to exhaust all leads before making any public disclosures.
“Regrettably, we are unable to disclose all the details to the family,” Hands expressed. “We make an effort to convey this to them. I can only imagine the overwhelming emotions they must be experiencing, and I acknowledge their frustration. However, there are certain matters that we cannot discuss openly due to our operational processes and protocols. We strive to handle things in a manner that aligns with our approach.”
