On January 1, 2024, California will raise its minimum wage to $16
The arrival of the new year will shortly result in a modest pay increase for minimum-wage workers in California.
The state’s minimum wage, which is presently $15.50 per hour for all companies, will raise to $16 on January 1.
California is one of 22 states where the rate will rise in 2024. Washington will continue to have the highest minimum wage in the country, at $16.28 per hour.
Twenty states continue to use the federal minimum wage, which has been the same for almost a decade and a half: $7.25 per hour.
