Police in Monroe arrest two people on suspicion of drug distribution and seize drugs and cash.
Monday, Monroe police arrested two men on suspicion of drug dealing and seized cash and a variety of illegal substances.
Monday at 2:25 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 0-99 block of East Willow Street to investigate a report of two people walking between parked cars and soliciting, according to a post on the Public Safety Department’s Facebook page. The caller believed criminal activity was occurring.
According to the post, two officers arrived at the scene and located a 39-year-old man from Monroe and a 32-year-old man from Adrian.
“During the interaction, both subjects lied about their names, and one subject threw suspected narcotics on the ground,” according to the post. Officers discovered a large quantity of drugs in plain view within one of the suspect’s vehicles.
According to the post, both men were arrested and lodged in the Monroe County Jail without incident. Prior to their arraignment in First District Court, police did not reveal their identities.
At the conclusion of this investigation, officers recovered 14.8 grams of crack cocaine, 3.3 grams of heroin, and 28 analogue pills. They also seized cash believed to be proceeds from drug transactions, according to the post.
