Smoking Subway Rider Arrested for Attempted Murder

Police have apprehended a man who was wanted for attempted murder in a shooting that occurred three months ago. The suspect was caught smoking on a subway train, leading to his capture.

According to authorities, when questioned by New York Police Department transit officers about smoking on the subway around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Luis Jenkins reportedly claimed, “I’m a good kid living a good life.”

According to the New York Daily News, when authorities ran a check on Jenkins’s name, they found out that he was being sought in connection with a shooting that occurred in the Bronx back in June.

According to reports, Jenkins allegedly shot a 39-year-old man in the Morrisania neighborhood of the Bronx at around 5:15 p.m. on June 22. The victim was struck in the upper chest and required hospitalization but fortunately survived the attack.

According to the New York Daily News, the transit cops were able to identify Jenkins as the suspect shortly after the incident, and subsequently took him into custody.

According to the news outlet, police have charged him with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon. Additionally, he was charged with a violation for smoking on the subway.
