Breaking News: Occasional showers and storms Saturday, with the possibility of larger storms Sunday morning
Forecast for the Short Term The clouds indicate a warm transition through Saturday. A strong, cold front is approaching from the Gulf of Mexico. This will bring some precipitation to the region in the form of light intermittent showers on Saturday morning.
Because of the instability and warm weather, there will be a few rounds of showers and storms to observe. Wind can be dangerous in some storms.
BE AWARE OF THE WEATHER 4 a.m. in Alabama and 3 a.m. until 10 a.m. in Georgia: Sunday’s early morning storm line appears to increase slightly, most likely south and east of Columbus, but some forecasts show east Alabama through our west central Georgia counties may be hit by a strong squall line. Wind damage, minor hail, and a low probability of a tornado. As a result, I’m adding all of our News 3 counties to the list of threats I indicated.
At this time, we have a very low chance of severe storms (MARGINAL 1 out of 5 confidence), however Sunday morning before to and before daybreak, we should see some quite heavy showers and embedded thunderstorms, which we’ll monitor until the front clears.
Sunday late afternoon into next week, we’ll see the sun and lower temperatures. This means cold mornings are on the way this week.
