Strong thunderstorms fell trees and brought down power lines across central Alabama early Sunday morning, knocking out power to thousands of Alabama Power customers as temperatures dropped further.
As of noon Sunday, nearly 11,000 Alabama Power customers were without power, according to the company’s outage map.
Storms swept through the state andย caused tornadoes across the southeast as they went through the region.
The First Alert Weather team predicts clear skies and considerably cooler temperatures for the rest of the day Sunday.
