Doctor in NYC Fired by Hospital After Saying Israelis Killed by Hamas Received a ‘Taste of Their Own Medicine’
An emergency doctor in New York City was terminated from their position after posting on social media that Israelis were experiencing a “taste of their own medicine” during the recent Hamas terror attack, which sparked the current ongoing conflict.
According to the New York Post, Dr. Dina Diab, whose Instagram account was set to private and had a Palestinian flag emoji, shared a video of the music festival near the Gaza Strip that was attacked without warning resulting in the deaths of approximately 260 attendees on October 7th.
StopAntisemitism’s viral post, with 1.1 million views, revealed that Diab works as an emergency room physician at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan.
On Tuesday morning, Northwell Health hospital network announced that Diab was no longer an employee.
On X, Lenox Hill Hospital and Northwell Health issued a statement expressing their sincere apologies for the harm and offense caused by the comments. The statement emphasized that such views do not align with the organizations’ fundamental principles and values.
According to reports, Diab defended herself by asserting that she had never advocated for harm against anyone.
According to the Post, she stated firmly that she has never and will never relinquish her responsibility and commitment as a physician.
StopAntisemitism shared a screenshot revealing that Diab was included in the list of employees of New York City’s public health system.
On the now-removed page, she was recognized as an emergency medicine expert at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County with proficiency in English and Arabic.
NYC Health + Hospitals spokesperson stated via email that they are investigating the social media post.
According to the spokesperson, NYC Health + Hospitals is committed to providing compassionate and humane care to all individuals while treating them with the utmost dignity and respect.
“At work, we have a strict policy against any behavior that supports hate, intolerance, or other actions that go against our mission, values, or dedication to providing care.”
