Fiery Crash in Long Beach Injures 3 People After Chase Ends
On Friday afternoon, a high-speed chase in Long Beach resulted in a violent and fiery crash that left three people injured.
As captured by surveillance footage, the car attempting to escape collided with a white truck making a left turn at an intersection. The force of the impact caused both vehicles to crash into a traffic pole, causing it to topple.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the collision occurred at approximately 3 p.m. in the Artesia and Long Beach boulevards area.
The crash occurred as the suspect was driving a stolen Dodge Charger and attempting to flee in an eastbound direction on Artesia, according to authorities.
Racing against time, the crew hurried to put out the fire that had engulfed the twisted Charger. According to the deputies, the vehicle had been reported stolen on Thanksgiving.
According to investigators, the driver of the Charger attempted to evade a traffic stop on Friday, prompting a pursuit.
According to deputies, the victim sustained severe injuries and was admitted to the intensive care unit. It is suspected that the impact of the incident may have resulted in a limb being severed.
According to authorities, after being released from the hospital, the suspect was taken into custody with a fractured ankle. Meanwhile, the passenger was treated at the scene and later released.
