A grandmother, aged 51, was arrested in Paterson, New Jersey, for stabbing her 5-year-old granddaughter multiple times in their residence.
Aurora Villacorta, the grandmother, is charged with aggravated assault, weapon-related offences, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Upon receiving a call for assistance, law enforcement discovered the girl suffering from multiple stab wounds. Villacorta is presently incarcerated pending a court hearing after being arrested at the scene. The child is in stable condition and the motive for the attack remains unknown.
