Off-duty NYPD officer identified as driver responsible for pedestrian’s death on Saturday
According to the state attorney general, the driver responsible for the tragic incident in Oceanside, where a pedestrian was hit and killed, has been identified as an off-duty NYPD officer.
Adrian Wilburne tragically lost his life when he was struck by a vehicle while crossing the intersection of Merrick and Oceanside roads at around 2 a.m. on Saturday. This devastating incident was previously reported by News 12 and has left the community mourning the loss of a beloved individual.
The driver promptly contacted the police and remained at the scene.
Under state law, the Attorney General’s Office is required to conduct a thorough investigation into each and every civilian death that involves a police officer.
