Man killed after crashing into dump truck in Bowie identified police

A 24-year-old man named Anthony Jeffrey Avila Lopez from Herndon, Virginia was behind the wheel of a Honda Civic when it collided with the back of a truck on Route 301 South, near Ball Park Road in Bowie. This information comes from a preliminary report.

The only person present in the vehicle, the driver named Lopez, was declared dead at the location.

According to authorities, Santos O Rodriguez Bermudez, a 40-year-old resident of Fort Washington, was transported to Capital Region Medical Center via ambulance after being identified as the driver of the truck involved in the incident.

The authorities are still investigating the reason behind the crash and have not yet determined the cause.
