Police say: A child fell from an apartment building in downtown Kansas City and died on Monday
Tragically, a child lost their life on Monday in downtown Kansas City after falling from an apartment building, according to the police.
According to Capt. Corey Carlisle, a spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department, the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fall, which was captured on surveillance footage, is still ongoing.
Authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the case, treating it as a suspicious death.
According to Carlisle, the investigation may take several weeks as investigators await reports from the medical examiner’s office and pursue other leads. Once the investigation is complete, any possible criminal charges will be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.
Around 11 a.m., officers were called to an apartment building on Grand Boulevard. They discovered a child under the age of 12 with injuries in an alleyway.
The police have not yet identified the child who was pronounced dead at the scene.
