The most LGBTQ-friendly cities in California
The LGBTQ community in California has reason to celebrate as seventeen cities in the state have achieved a perfect score of 100/100 from the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) for their exceptional policies and services in promoting inclusivity.
The Municipal Equality Index has been released by the HRC for eleven years now, with the latest report being for 2022. This year, the average score for cities has reached an all-time high of 68, continuing a five-year trend of steadily increasing scores.
Last year, 110 cities across the country earned perfect scores, but this number has increased to 120 this year. Currently, 188 cities provide transgender-inclusive health care benefits to their employees. Additionally, 41 cities have implemented laws prohibiting gay conversion therapy.
