Two Arrested for Identity Theft, Allegedly Purchased $5,600 in iPhones Using Victim’s ID

Wyoming County, NY – Two men have been arrested and charged with identity theft and other offences following a thorough investigation conducted jointly by the Wyoming and Genesee county sheriff’s offices. The investigation lasted for almost 18 months and finally led to the arrest of the suspects.

In April 2022, an investigation was launched after a victim reported receiving a call from an individual posing as a Verizon Wireless representative. The imposter obtained the victim’s personal information and reportedly used it to purchase iPhones worth $5,600. Deputies are currently working on this case to identify and bring the culprits to justice.

Two New York City residents, Joel A. Rojas Perallon, aged 20, and Raul DeLeon DeLeon, aged 30, have been accused of identity theft, grand larceny, and scheme to defraud.

The court has scheduled their next appearance in September.
