Hit and run in southeast Colorado Springs results in victim being identified
On October 13th, a hit-and-run involving a bicyclist occurred on East Las Vegas Street in Colorado Springs. The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) promptly responded to the incident.
According to CSPD, the driver reportedly fled the scene, but concerned callers provided the authorities with the necessary details of the vehicle.
According to the El Paso County Coroner, Jessica Gilmore, who was riding her bicycle, sustained fatal injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Sadly, despite medical efforts, she passed away later on.
After locating the suspect, William Dixson, who is 43 years old, the CSPD officer proceeded to arrest him. Dixson faces several charges, including Accidents Involving Death or Personal Injuries, Careless Driving Resulting in Death, and Driving Under the Influence.
