City councilman from Mississippi apprehended in Alabama for alcohol and drug-related offenses
A councilman from Mississippi was apprehended in Alabama on Friday evening.
Columbus City Councilman Pierre Beard, 35, was arrested by the Gordo Police Department, as reported by WTVA in Tupelo.
Beard faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of marijuana (2nd offense), possession of drug paraphernalia (1st offense), and illegal possession of alcohol.
Beard arrived at the Pickens County, Alabama jail on Friday, Dec. 1, at 8:50 pm. The authorities have set his bond at $2,350.
Beard is the representative for Ward 4 in the city of Columbus.
