CSPD: A man was shot and died while attempting to rob two people
COLORADO SPRINGS — According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), the guy who was shot and killed in the early morning hours of Saturday, Dec. 2 in the Stratton Meadows area was allegedly attempting to rob two people at gunpoint when the shooting occurred.
Officers responded to a reported gunfire just before 3 a.m. Saturday in the 800 block of Musket Drive, just southwest of the Motor City Curve, according to CSPD. When authorities arrived, they discovered one man dead and another with gunshot wounds.
The injured man was brought to the hospital with significant injuries, and the CSPD Homicide Unit was dispatched to take over the investigation.
Marcus Plummer, 19, of Denver, was identified as the guy found deceased on the scene by the El Paso County Coroner on Monday, Dec. 4. While the official cause and manner of death will be determined by the coroner’s office, Plummer’s death is being investigated as a homicide.
The investigation into the event is still underway, but according to CSPD, the first inquiry found that Plummer used a gun to try to rob two males in an apartment complex parking lot. One of the attempted robbery victims was shot after a fight. According to CSPD, he is expected to survive.
Plummer was also shot at least once and died as a result of his injuries. According to CSPD, a gun was discovered at the site.
All people engaged in this incident have been identified, and there is no known threat to the community, according to CSPD. This is Colorado Springs’ 31st homicide in 2023. There were 50 homicides at this time in 2022.
