Deadly multi-vehicle crash in South Gate follows police chase
On Monday, a fatal crash occurred in South Gate after a chase involving a stolen vehicle. The pursuit turned into a dangerous and tragic event.
According to the sheriff’s department, the incident began when deputies initiated a pursuit of a driver in the East Los Angeles area who was reportedly driving a stolen vehicle. The chase eventually came to a halt at around 3:30 p.m. when the driver crashed near Southern Avenue and State Street.
Several vehicles, including a grey Range Rover, were captured by Eyewitness News cameras with damages as a result of the incident, impacting at least five cars.
According to officials, a male driver operating a grey Nissan Sentra lost his life in the incident. However, it hasn’t been disclosed by the deputies as to which of the five vehicles involved was the one reported stolen.
Authorities have taken one suspect into custody, but the search continues for two more individuals involved in the incident.
