Multi-vehicle crash in South LA leaves 7 injured, including 3 young children hospitalized.
According to officials, on Wednesday, a robbery suspect who was wanted by the authorities crashed into another vehicle at high speed in South Los Angeles’ Florence-Firestone neighbourhood, injuring seven individuals.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, a collision occurred at around 1 p.m. on the 200 block of West 81st Street, located just east of the 110 Freeway.
According to the Los Angeles police department, the suspect was being searched for by the officers. However, they had not started chasing them before the accident occurred.
As the plainclothes officers were surveilling on 83rd Street, they caught sight of the suspect, who was driving. They immediately requested helicopter assistance, intending to conduct a traffic stop. However, their plans were foiled as the suspect’s vehicle crashed into another car carrying six people – three adults and three juveniles. The crash occurred incredibly fast, leaving the officers with no chance to pull the vehicle over.
Seven individuals received medical treatment and were transported to nearby medical facilities.
Another car was also part of the collision. According to the Fire Department, the patients admitted to the hospital comprised two women, aged 24 and 36, two men, aged 28 and 40, and three young girls, aged five months, four years, and five years.
According to the agency, the current condition of the two men and the 36-year-old woman is critical, while the three children and the 24-year-old woman are in fair condition. Unfortunately, no further details have been released regarding the patients’ identities or the nature of their injuries.
