Officials report car running red light kills 2 taxi passengers in NJ crash
Officials reported Sunday that two taxi passengers were killed in an early morning incident in New Jersey after one of the vehicles involved apparently ran a red light.
The cab collided with another vehicle soon before 6 a.m. on East Grand and Spring streets in Elizabeth, according to city officials. The other automobile appeared to be “fleeing from an earlier incident when they ran the red light,” according to a city official.
Two persons inside the taxi died as a result of their injuries in the incident.
According to Elizabeth police, three passengers were inside the second car involved in the incident. Two of the three passengers have been arrested, but the third has fled the scene on foot.
The crash is still being investigated.
