One person dead after car crashes into barrier and catches fire on Hwy 71
A fatal car accident claimed a life on Saturday morning on U.S. Highway 71, according to Kansas City police.
At approximately 4:10 a.m., the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) reported that a driver in a blue Nissan Sentra was traveling in the wrong direction on the northbound lanes. This occurred after the driver failed to navigate a curve in the road properly.
The vehicle was empty, with no other passengers inside.
The northbound traffic on the highway was temporarily closed for approximately two and a half hours but has now been reopened.
