Police in Birmingham conducted death investigation after body found
Birmingham, (Alabama) – Authorities in Birmingham, Alabama are currently investigating an unclassified death that took place on Sunday afternoon. Police are on the scene, and details surrounding the incident remain unclear at this time.
Authorities were called to investigate the discovery of a deceased individual in the vicinity of the 5400 block of Casey Avenue.

UPDATE: According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s office, the victim in question has been identified as Tommie Lee Brown, a 26-year-old resident of Birmingham.
According to the Coroner’s report released on Tuesday, it has been confirmed that Brown suffered gunshot wounds. The Birmingham police are currently investigating the matter as a homicide.
At approximately 6:37 a.m., officers from the West Precinct were dispatched to 50th Street SW and Park Avenue SW in response to a report of an individual who was down.
As law enforcement arrived at the scene, they discovered a male individual lying motionless in a trench adjacent to the roadway.
As of now, the authorities have not taken anyone into custody in relation to the incident. Additionally, the name of the victim has not been made public yet.
