Bankruptcy declared by three hospitals within three weeks
According to recent reports from Becker’s, three hospitals have filed for bankruptcy since August 3.
Trinity Regional Hospital Sachse, located in Texas, has recently filed for bankruptcy, as reported by Bloomberg.
According to a news release shared with Becker’s, Mercy Iowa City, a financially troubled hospital with 234 beds, is resisting a takeover by an investment firm. In response, the University of Iowa has announced plans to acquire the hospital, which has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the Northern District of Iowa.
On August 3rd, Martin General Hospital, a 49-bed facility in Williamston, North Carolina, was forced to suspend its operations. As a result, the hospital has announced its intentions to file for bankruptcy.
