Thursday, police in the Brownsville neighborhood of northwest Miami-Dade County arrested a man on suspicion of raping a 13-year-old girl.
Monday evening, according to the Miami-Dade Police Department, a sexual assault occurred.Travis Trevora Jones, a family friend of the victim who frequently visits her family’s apartment, was alone with the girl that night and “ordered” her into the restroom, according to an MDPD report.
The victim told police she was “hesitant” but ultimately complied with the 45-year-old’s demand.
According to witnesses, Jones locked the door behind him and began fondling and eventually raping the adolescent, only stopping when he heard her mother enter the apartment.
According to the report, Jones fled and was later apprehended by authorities; he denied raping the girl. Friday, he confronted a Miami-Dade judge.
Jones was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $17,500 bond after a judge found probable cause to charge him with sexual battery on a victim aged 12 to 17 and lewd and lascivious molestation on a minor aged 12 to 16.
