Prisoner Who Escaped Police Custody in Newark Captured

A prisoner who escaped from police custody in Newark has been apprehended

Makena Farrell, a 28-year-old woman who fled police, was apprehended today following a brief foot pursuit.

Farrell was arrested on narcotics-related charges on September 14 in the 900 block of Frelinghuysen Avenue. She was being detained at 480 Clinton Avenue when she fled today at 2:23 p.m.

Farrell was apprehended by police on Van Vechten Street. She is now facing further allegations, including eluding capture, obstructing the administration of justice, and burglary. Fritz G. Fragé, Director of Public Safety, confirmed the arrest and the pending charges.
