Alert in New York City following the outbreak of violence in Israel and Gaza

During a press conference held on Tuesday, John Chell, the chief of patrol for the NYPD, revealed that the police department is closely monitoring social media activities and has implemented multiple layers of security around synagogues and other Jewish places of worship.

According to Eric Adams, the Mayor of New York City, the NYPD has been instructed to provide extra resources to schools and houses of worship to ensure their safety, and to maintain peace in the city. Additionally, the NYPD will increase its patrols in significant neighborhoods to protect all residents of the city.

Governor Kathy Hochul of New York reassured the public on Thursday that there are no current indications of any active threats in the state of New York. Nonetheless, given the tense situation, she emphasized that they will continue to maintain a heightened state of vigilance and take necessary precautions to prevent any possible acts of violence.

According to The Associated Press, Hamas, the Palestinian militant group, launched a surprise attack on Israel, prompting the latter to declare war. Tragically, the war has resulted in the loss of at least 2,600 lives on both sides since the beginning of Hamas’ attack on Israel.
