Bellflower woman shot while stealing purse
Over the weekend, a woman was shot in Bellflower after her purse was attempted to be stolen; police are still searching for the thief.
Police stated that it occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m. on October 15. A vehicle blocked the path of a woman traversing a parking lot in the 2100 block of Bellflower Boulevard. A man then exited the vehicle, brandished a firearm at her, and demanded her purse.
The woman attempted to flee, but the thief eventually caught up with her as he pursued her. A physical altercation ensued at that moment, resulting in the woman receiving a lower body gunshot wound.
After stealing the woman’s purse, the thief fled in her vehicle. Firefighters from Long Beach transported the victim to a nearby medical facility due to non-critical injuries.
As part of their ongoing investigation into the shooting, the police reported recovering evidence at the location, which included shell casings.
