Police: Student on New York School Bus Route Allegedly Kidnapped and Raped by Driver
Giovanny Campos, aged 50, entered a plea of not guilty for charges of criminal sex acts and reckless endangerment in relation to the case involving a teenage girl, as reported by News 12 Long Island.
According to the news outlet, Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly stated that the defendant allegedly took advantage of his position as a school bus driver to sexually abuse a teenage student. The abuse reportedly occurred both on the bus and at the defendant’s apartment in Queens. School bus drivers are entrusted with the responsibility of transporting and safeguarding our children, making these allegations particularly disturbing.
Campos, employed as a bus driver with Cheese Bus, allegedly committed the sexual assaults in May.
The suspect was responsible for transporting the victim from January to July.
Campos, according to the police, was arrested in September. If found guilty, he could be sentenced to a maximum of 25 years in prison.
Campos’s next court appearance is scheduled for December 12th.
