Two cities in New York State have been named the rudest in the country

New York City has been identified as the rudest city in the United States, with two of its cities topping the list. One of them has even been ranked as the number one rudest city in the country.

When we think of rude individuals, our minds often conjure images of reckless driving, impolite behavior, and a pervasive sense of entitlement.

Unfortunately, New York is where you will find the highest concentration of people with these negative attitudes in the United States.

New Rude Cities Survey

According to a recent survey conducted by Business Insider, the title of the rudest city in America goes to a location in the Empire State, which received over a third of the total votes.

Over 2,000 adults were surveyed in a recent publication, where they were asked to select the five cities they deemed the rudest. The survey included the 50 largest metro areas in the country and the results were compiled from two separate online polls.

New York City, also known as The Big Apple, claimed the top spot on the list as the rudest city in America. Garnering over a third of the votes, NYC emerged as the clear winner.

According to the survey, New York City was chosen as the top destination by 34.3 percent of the respondents. This percentage is almost double the number of people who voted for Los Angeles, California, which came in second place. If you want to learn more about this survey, you can read about it here.

Interestingly, NYC has been named the place with some of the worst residents in the entire country, according to another survey conducted by Travel.Alot.com.

It’s not surprising that NYC has earned this not-so-great badge of honor, as the city has had a reputation for being terrible for centuries. In fact, back in 1774, President John Adams himself remarked:

I have not seen one real gentleman, one well-bred man, since I came to town. At their entertainments there is no conversation that is agreeable; there is no modesty, no attention to one another. They talk very loud, very fast and altogether. If they ask you a question, before you can utter three words of your answer they will break out upon you again and talk away

On the other hand, supporters of NYC contend that the perception of the city being unwelcoming stems from its dense population and limited personal space available.

But there’s another city that surpassed the Big Apple in a different ranking, and it might just surprise you.

New Rudeness Survey

Insurify recently conducted a unique survey to determine the rudeness levels of different cities, focusing specifically on the behavior of their drivers. Cities with a high number of aggressive drivers, who frequently engage in activities such as cutting off other vehicles or tailgating, were included in the findings of this comprehensive study.

Surprisingly, New York City traffic, despite its notorious reputation, did not make it onto this list.

Instead, Schenectady was the one who received the honor.

Insurify states that:

Despite having just over 67,000 residents, Schenectady greatly surpassed more populated New York cities with a 120% higher rate of rude driving violations than the state average. Schenectady is the only city that appeared on last year’s list as well.

The city of Schenectady has been identified as having one of the highest percentages of drivers with violations on their record. In fact, the percentage stands at 1.93 percent, which is a staggering 120 percent higher than the state average.
