DA announces 22-year imprisonment for man convicted of killing NY mother discovered in trunk
District Attorney Melinda Katz reported that Kareem Flake, a 31-year-old resident of Troy, New York, has been handed a 22-year prison sentence.
Flake was taken into custody in Florida on April 9, 2022, and was subsequently transported to New York.
According to Katz, this man’s actions were heinous and caused a great deal of pain and suffering for Destini Smothers’ family. Her loved ones were left to wonder about her whereabouts for months, and her two young children were forced to grow up without a mother. Katz hoped this sentence would bring peace to those who cared about Destiny.
