School bus driver from Virginia Beach arrested for selling drugs to students.
A school bus driver from Virginia Beach has been fired and is facing criminal charges after allegedly selling drugs to students.
According to a search warrant affidavit, the parent of a Virginia Beach student found their child unconscious with signs of drug use Sept 4. The student was rushed to the hospital because the student’s parent suspected they had ingested fentanyl (the student claimed it was “mushrooms”).
When the parent examined the child’s phone, they discovered text messages with “Mr. Mike” that contained discussions about providing the student and others with alcohol and nicotine vapes.
Five days a week, Bus 353 transports students to and from Kellam High School. The police were able to match the number from the text messages with that of Michael Gunther, the driver of Bus 353.
Gunther has been employed by Virginia Beach City Public Schools since 2018, according to court documents.
According to VBPD, he was detained and charged with aiding in the delinquency of a minor.
