Police say woman dies in hospital after being struck by 18-wheeler she had cut off on Katy Freeway
Houston police have confirmed that a woman who sustained critical injuries in a crash on Katy Freeway the night before Thanksgiving has tragically passed away.
According to Houston police, a 25-year-old woman was behind the wheel of a Hyundai when she made an unsafe lane change, cutting off an 18-wheeler. The impact of the collision caused both vehicles to crash into the HOV lane.
The woman was taken to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center in critical condition, but unfortunately, doctors declared her deceased on Friday.
The driver of the 18-wheeler, who is 61 years old, was unharmed in the incident, according to the police. He stayed at the scene to answer questions, and after investigation, the authorities concluded that he was not under the influence of any substances.
The investigation is still ongoing as authorities work to verify the identity of the woman.
