Hilo Man Charged With D.U.I., Anabolic Steroid Possession, Attempted Meth Distribution
Aysa Kalei Delos Santos, 36, was arrested and charged with attempted distribution of methamphetamine, driving under the influence, and possessing illegal anabolic steroids.
Delos Santos’s arrest resulted from a routine traffic stop in Hilo on September 17. Following the execution of a narcotics search warrant on his vehicle, VICE officers recovered over a half pound of methamphetamine divided into nine separate packets, each containing approximately one ounce of methamphetamine, as well as various drug paraphernalia, four vials containing what are believed to be anabolic steroids, hydrocodone pills, and over $4,400 in U.S. currency.
As alleged in the Complaint, Delos Santos was charged with six offences, including Attempted Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the First Degree (attempt to distribute one-eighth ounce or more of methamphetamine), Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the First Degree (knowingly possessing one ounce or more of methamphetamine), Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the Third Degree (possession of any dangerous drug, hydrocodone), Attempted Promotion of a Dangerous Drug in the First Degree and Promotion of a Dangerous Drug in the First Degree are both class A felonies punishable by up to twenty years in prison or ten years of probation and up to two years in jail.
