Hit-and-run driver causes the death of a 32-year-old man in Orange County
The loved ones of a 32-year-old man, who lost his life in a hit-and-run incident, are urging the community to come forward with any information that can help the authorities identify the perpetrator and provide closure to the family.
According to a news release from the Santa Ana Police Department, officers rushed to the scene of a “pedestrian down in traffic lanes” near Warner Avenue and Brookhollow Drive at around 10 p.m. on October 15th.
Upon arrival at the scene, medical personnel from the Orange County Fire Department pronounced the victim, Sergio Diaz, aged 32, deceased.
Hrodi Nocelotl, Diaz’s spouse, has reached out to the public for aid in identifying the hit-and-run driver and perpetrator. The appeal for help is being made with great enthusiasm.
Police suspect that Diaz was walking across Warner Avenue, just east of Brookhollow Drive, when an eastbound driver hit him. The driver didn’t stop, identify themselves, or offer any help. This information comes from a preliminary investigation.
Authorities suspect that the driver was aware of the collision due to the severity of the 32-year-old’s injuries. The crash is still under investigation, but speed is believed to have played a role.
