Suspects allegedly stole sunglasses worth $25,000 from a Downey mall
Two suspects were arrested for stealing designer sunglasses worth approximately $25,000 from a Downey shopping mall.
The Sunglass Hut store in the Stonewood Centre was burglarized on September 8, according to the Downey Police Department.
The suspects allegedly entered the store, ransacked the display cases and shelves, and stole many sunglasses before fleeing.
Police later spotted the suspect’s vehicle driving around Beverly Hills. The suspects were stopped. Police say that during a search of their vehicle, officers discovered approximately $25,000 worth of stolen designer sunglasses.
Photos of the recovered merchandise depict a variety of designer sunglasses, including Versace, Prada, Gucci, Fendi, Ray-Bans, and others. According to the store’s website, available glasses range from $72 to $2,400.
Thieves flee with $40,000 of goods from a Southern California bike shop.
Both suspects were charged with grand theft and burglary. Their identities have not been disclosed as the investigation is still ongoing.
